SCRIP
  • In order to register for scrip, you need to go to shopwithscrip.com and click on the "register" tab.
  • Our organization name is: Cedar Springs Music Boosters/MI and our enrollment code is: 7L9D69LB6525
  • When you get to entering personal information, there is a category called classroom/group, for this you need to enter  "Band / Cedar Springs Music Boosters"

SCRIP is a terrific way to save money on your everyday purchases, help the Cedar Springs Band Program, AND reduce your child's band costs. Each time you make a purchase with a SCRIP Gift Certificate, a portion of that purchase is donated back to both the student's Band Credit Account and the Music Booster General Fund.

SCRIP IS A TERM THAT MEANS "SUBSTITUTE MONEY"

When you purchase $CRIP, you're purchasing negotiable gift certificates that are used just like cash. The $CRIP is issued by the national and local retailers where many of our organization's families already shop. These merchants want to support non-profit organizations, and in return ask you to support them by shopping with $CRIP at their stores. Our organization members can use $CRIP to purchase everyday expenses like food, clothing, and other essentials, and with every purchase, they earn revenue for our organization.

HOW SCRIP GENERATES MONEY FOR THE MUSIC BOOSTERS:

The Great Lakes Scrip center acts on behalf of churches, schools and other non-profit organizations to purchase large amounts of $CRIP from grocery stores, department stores, and other retailers. Because the scrip is purchased with cash up front, the participating retailers offer a substantial discount. Our organization buys the $CRIP from Great Lakes $CRIP Center at a discount, and re-sells the certificates to our organization members for full face value. The bulk of the discount - from two to fifteen percent or more - is retained by our organization as revenue.

$CRIP IS "SHOPPING CART FUNDRAISING”

The reason for the effectiveness of $CRIP is simple: families generate revenue through purchases they would make anyway. Groceries, clothing, toys, gifts, even gasoline can be purchased with $CRIP. An organization of 150 families easily spends between one and two million dollars per year on food, clothing and other essentials. If these families use $CRIP for these purchases, they can raise as much as $40,000 to $80,000 per year for their organization --without spending an additional penny.

Scrip cards are available for hundreds of retailers, and are great gifts for birthdays, graduations, and Christmas. Or use them to get gas, groceries and school clothes at your usual locations, including Wal-Mart, Speedway, American Eagle, and hundreds more! Click here for a list of retailers.

Scip orders are due in the Band room on Monday and will be placed on Tuesday. Your order can be picked up the following Monday at Band practice or it can be sent home with your student. If you would like more information, contact Robin Secord

Other Fund Raising Programs

Although many parents sigh when they hear the word “fundraiser”, it is a necessary evil in all organizations. There is never enough money for all the things we want to do and provide for our Band students, and funding from the schools and the state is constantly in jeopardy. Without the fundraising efforts of the Boosters and the students, Cedar Springs would not have the outstanding band program that it has today.

Common fundraisers for our organization include: sub sandwiches, candy bars, wreaths, SCRIP, Red Flannel Marching Band Invitational

A percentage of your purchases from Family Fare and D&W can be credited to Cedar Springs Bands during certain weeks of the year. Our “Cash For Class” code is 96737. For more information, and to automatically tie our organization to your “Yes Rewards” card, go to https://yes.spartanstores.com/index

Another terrific way to donate money to the band program is to Become a Band Patron. With a donation of $10 or more, your name or customized ad will be published in the event programs for the Red Flannel Marching Band Invitational, which takes place the first Saturday of October every year. This is a wonderful way to advertise your business or tell your senior that you’re proud of all they’ve accomplished in Band over the years!
