5th Grade Instruction will begin next school year on the following instruments: flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, percussion, and trumpet, French horn, baritone, trombone and tuba. In most cases, students will provide their own instrument. If you have questions regarding the cost of instruments, please phone any local music store to obtain an accurate price quote. Most local music stores have reasonable rental or rent to own programs. Check around because prices and deals vary from store to store. Used instruments are often available if you shop early!
6th Grade Director of Brass and French Horns: Mr. Adam Borst Director of Percussion: Mr. Robert Robuck Director of Woodwinds: Mr. James Greene
Welcome to 6th Grade Band! Students will need their instruments on Friday, September 5. We strongly advise students to avoid assembling their instruments until then. They will learn the proper care and assembly instructions for each instrument as well as how to correctly produce a tone. Everyone should bring a pencil to class each day and will be provided with a folder and method book for their instrument.
As students learn new instruments, they need to practice what is taught during class as their homework for band, which includes filling out weekly practice charts (download under Quick Links above). These are due on Fridays with parent signatures and will be starting the first full week of school, September 8. Percussion are required to practice 100 minutes per week, while brass and woodwinds are only required 50 minutes.
Please see our Music Links page for great information and fun games, too!
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at any time and we look forward to making beautiful music!
