Congrats to High School & Middle School Bands!

Congratulations to the Cedar Springs High School Wind Ensemble, Symphony Band, and Jazz Band, and to the 7th Grade Band, 8th Grade Band, and Middle School Jazz Band!  All six bands performed in Holiday Concerts, and did an amazing job!

Also, “Bravo!” to the CSHS Jazz Band for their musical production last Saturday.

Thank you to Mr. Borst, Mr. Shaw, and Mr. Robuck for their time spent preparing the bands for their performances.  A special thank you goes out to Kim McDaniel-Robuck for volunteering to write and direct the CSHS Jazz Band musical!  We appreciate the hard work and dedication that you all have for our music program!!

The Music Boosters would like to wish all of our students and their families a Merry Christmas!

Middle School Solo & Ensemble Times

This Saturday, December 3rd, the Middle School Solo & Ensemble Competition will be held at Reeths Puffer Intermediate School in Muskegon.

All students must report to their warm-up room at least 30 minutes before their scheduled performance time.  Please dress up to make a good impression on the judges and boost your confidence – no jeans or tennis shoes!

Remember to bring your ORIGINAL music for the judge, labeled IN PENCIL with your name, school name, event number and section number.  Number each measure with a pencil, if not already done for you.  If you have an ensemble, only one copy of the original score is needed for the judge.

If your Performance Room is “P005″, then your warm-up room is “W005.”  (“P” for performance, “W” for warm-up)

CSHS Takes 7th in the State in Flight III!

Congratulations to the Cedar Springs High School Marching Band on their 7th place finish at MCBA State Finals at Ford Field!!

Last Saturday, November 5th, the band traveled to Detroit where they finished 7th in their division.  Mr. Borst and Mr. Shaw, along with many parents who followed the band to Ford Field, agree that it was their best performance of the season!

The band finished with a score of 76.86, their season-best.

HS Parents, Start Buying That Trunk-or-Treat Candy!

Trunk -or- Treat is right around the corner!

The Second Annual High School Band Trunk -or- Treat will be held on Monday, October 31st.  We have learned over the years, that nothing makes Band kids happier than giving them some candy!  (Just ask any Uniform Committee person.)  Trunk or Treat also takes a little sting out of the fact that students have Monday night rehearsal on Trick-or-Treat night.  :)

Parents should arrive in the west High School bus parking lot at 8:30 pm.  Students will walk out to the parking lot at 9:00, following their Monday night rehearsal.  Please bring enough candy for 120 people.  That will include enough for the directors and any instructors that might need a little chocolate therapy.  If you can’t attend, please send in your candy to the HS Band room, and someone will be happy to pass it out for you.

Last year’s event was a huge success, so to make it even more fun, we are adding a Vehicle Decorating Contest!  So get out there and buy some candy and decorate those trunks!
